POST, Leo *

Actor (1915-1916)

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: Leo Post was an actor and stunt man with Thanhouser in 1915 and 1916 and played in various films.

Biographical Notes: Leo Post was among the Thanhouser employees who arrived in Jacksonville, Florida on December 20, 1915 and who worked at Thanhouser's Jacksonville studio in early 1916 under the direction of W. Eugene Moore. Among other duties he was a stunt man. In What Doris Did he doubled for Doris Grey in dangerous scenes. The New Rochelle Pioneer, June 5, 1915, carried an item involving the film, The Price of Her Silence: "Leo Post has added another laurel to his wreath of honors by a daredevil stunt in taking an automobile over a dock into the sound at Hudson Park. When deeds are needed where others quail, send for Leo - he'll put the stuff over. No matter how you arrange the letters in that guy's name, you can't create the word 'fear.' Otto Finn went over with him, and the White landed flat in the water, but both timed the drop to a nicety and left the auto while it was in the air and made a land escape." The New Rochelle Pioneer, June 3, 1916, stated that he was among nearly two dozen Thanhouser players, directors, and cameramen whose employment was ended by the studio on May 27, 1916, when the outlook for the Thanhouser Film Corporation was bleak.

Note: His name was given incorrectly as "George" Post in some accounts in Jacksonville newspapers in 1915 and 1916.
