Volume III: Biographies
Thanhouser Career Synopsis: In 1915 Lew A. Stiniman was a property man under Clarence Dull at the Thanhouser studio.
Biographical Notes: The New Rochelle Pioneer, May 29, 1915, noted the following: "Lew A. Stiniman, of 201 West 131st Street, New York City...is Swiss, but not a cheese, descent, and the only thing that the Bertillion System has against him was that he first saw the light of day at Hoboken, New Jersey. That was on May 25, 1893, but at heart he is about seven, and in years of theatrical experience about 60. He has had nine full years behind the footlight with the Alhambra, American, West End, Loew's Seventh Avenue, 166th Street Theatre, and has been with the Lafayette Theatres. And now he is with the local scene shifters at the studio with Clarence Dull as his chief. Lew-ee has a rich fund of stage chatter which he unloads at every opportunity, and is the originator of that sterling wheeze 'If I was French I would kiss you, and if I was Irish I would eat you.'"
