HAMMER, Ina *

Actress (1915-1916)

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: Ina Hammer appeared intermittently in Thanhouser films in 1915 and 1916.

Biographical Notes: Ina Hammer was a stage personality who, early in her career, was on the boards at Elitch's Theatre in Denver, where she was given the nickname of "The Sterling Actress." In 1907 she was on stage at the New Theatre in Chicago in Margaret Fleming. From at least 1912 to 1915 she was working in her husband's Stainach-Hards dramatic company at the Westchester Theatre in Mount Vernon, New York, not far from New Rochelle, where she was seen in many productions, including The Heart of Maryland, The Barrier, Within the Law, The Misleading Lady, and Way Down East.

Miss Hammer was engaged by Edwin Thanhouser to play a role in Crossed Wires, released on June 29, 1915. Later in the same year, she appeared in the 1915 Arnold Daly production of the Gold Rooster-Pathé film, The House of Fear. In 1916 she was in the Thanhouser release of King Lear. She was married to stage producer Ira Hards. Ina Hammer died in Brattleboro, Vermont on August 9, 1953.
