HANNA, Franklyn *

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: Franklyn Hanna was an actor with Thanhouser for a brief time, according to a listing in the 1917 edition of the Motion Picture News Studio Directory.

Biographical Notes: Franklyn Hanna was born in Missouri in 1875. He appeared on the stage as Senator Murphy in Potash and Perlmutter, and had the lead in Under Cover. He also played in vaudeville productions. His film career included work with Thanhouser, Edison, Metro, Conquest-Forum Films (Kidnapped), Vitagraph (The Message of the Mouse, Richard the Brazen), and M.H. Hoffman (One Hour). He specialized in politician and doctor roles. He remained in films through at least the early 1920s. The 1917 edition of the Motion Picture News Studio Directory noted that he was 6'2" tall and had a dark complexion and blue eyes. At the time he was represented by Ouida Bergere, whose agency was located in Aeolian Hall in New York City. Franklyn Hanna died on January 19, 1931.
