HOLLINGSWORTH, Alfred *

Actor (1914)

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: It is believed that Alfred Hollingsworth appeared in a Thanhouser film in 1914. A photograph caption in Reel Life identifies "A. Hollingsford" as a player in the Thanhouser film, The Tell-Tale Scar. It is believed that the reference should have been A. Hollingsworth.

Biographical Notes: Alfred Hollingsworth was born in Nebraska in 1874 and was educated in Colorado. He followed a stage career and appeared in Cyrano de Bergerac, with Jules Steger in The Fifth Commandment, and in vaudeville. His screen career included character acting with Vitagraph, Biograph, New York Motion Picture Co., and others. He was seen in Mill of the Zuyder Zee, Beggar of Cawnpore, Man From Nowhere, and other films. Later, he was with American (Purity), Pallas (The Right Direction), Mutual (Gilded Youth), Triangle (The Sawdust Ring), Triangle (Polly Ann). He remained in films with other studios through the mid 1920s. Apparently he was with Thanhouser only briefly, in 1914. He was 6' tall, weighed 210 pounds, and had dark hair and dark blue eyes. In 1918 the actor was with Triangle-Keystone in Culver City, California. Alfred Hollingsworth died on June 20, 1926 in Glendale, California.
