LIVINGSTON, Crawford

Investor, executive (1912-1918)

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: Crawford Livingston, an associate of Charles J. Hite, was active in Thanhouser affairs from the time that Hite acquired control in 1912 until the enterprise was ended in 1918, in which latter year he was president of the firm. After Hite's death in 1914, Livingston maintained an active interest in the day to day affairs of the company.

Biographical Notes: Crawford Livingston was prominent in railroads, banking, insurance and securities and many other ventures. He was born in New York City on May 6, 1848 and died in New York City on November 16, 1925. Livingston was involved in many different railroad companies, particularly in the Midwest, was a principal of various banking, warehousing, and had insurance interests in St. Paul, Minnesota. After divesting himself of certain business interests in the Midwest, he moved to New York City in 1912, where with his son he founded Livingston & Company, members of the New York Stock Exchange. Details concerning his life and business activities are given in The National Cyclopaedia of American Biography, Volume 42, pages 393 and 394, but no connection with motion pictures is mentioned.
