Volume III: Biographies
Thanhouser Career Synopsis: Walter K. Scott was an actor and cameraman at Thanhouser's New Rochelle studio from at least 1914 to 1916.
Biographical Notes: Walter K. Scott started his film career with Pearl White in The Perils of Pauline. He played minor roles as an actor at Thanhouser's New Rochelle studio, circa 1914-1916, and also served as a cameraman. The New Rochelle Pioneer, June 3, 1916, announced that Scott was among nearly two dozen important players, directors, cameramen, and other employees whose employment was terminated by the studio on Saturday morning, May 27, 1916, as part of an economy move when the outlook for the Thanhouser Film Corporation seemed bleak. Later, he was an actor, director, and cameraman for other silent film companies. Still later Scott worked for Fox Movietone News and in 1934, entered the employ of the government, eventually becoming chief of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's motion picture service. He died on April 9, 1958.
