COOPER, Will C. *

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: Will C. Cooper appeared in a Thanhouser film in 1911.

Biographical Notes: William C. Cowper, known professionally as Will C. Cooper, was born in Manchester, England in 1853 and was educated in England. He pursued a stage career with Frohman, William Gillette, Lawrence Barrett, and others, later starring in his own plays, having written 28 plays and produced nine.

His screen career began about 1910 and included playing character parts for Pathé, Famous Players, Thanhouser (She, released in 1911), and Metro (Dimples, etc.). Other appearances included roles in Gold Is Not All (1913), and, in 1915, Emmy of Stork's Nest, A Yellow Streak, and An Enemy of Society. It is believed that he was with Thanhouser for just a short time. In 1916-1918 directories it was stated that he lived at 987 Tinton Avenue, Bronx, New York, and that for recreation he enjoyed horseback riding, swimming and boxing. Will C. Cooper died on June 13, 1918.

Note: In the Studio Directory of Motion Picture News, 1916, he was listed as Will C. Cowper.
