Volume III: Biographies
Thanhouser Career Synopsis: John Hicks was an employee at the Thanhouser studio and was among those in attendance at the employees' outing held at City Island, September 7, 1912.
Biographical Notes: Note: It is possible, but not likely, that the Thanhouser player was the same as John W. Hicks, Jr., who later became president of Paramount International Films, and who started in the business circa 1912 as a theatre operator in Missouri. John W. Hicks, Jr. died on April 17, 1945 at the age of 58. Obituaries appeared in Variety, June 6, 1945, and The New York Times, June 2, 1945.
