Biographical Notes: Louise Vale (her married name) was born in New York City in 1890. She followed a stage career and appeared in stock for a period of about eight years in Denver, New Orleans, Syracuse, Rochester, Chicago, and New York City. On stage she was seen in Under Two Flags, for two seasons in The Girl of the Emerald Isle, and for three seasons in When the Bell Tolls. Her screen career began with Edwin Porter at the Rex Company, after which she went to Universal in 1911. Later, she was with Pilot (a firm formed in 1913; Travers Vale, her husband was a director there), then Reliance for six months (where she distinguished herself in a film in which she was the only player), then Biograph (for which she inaugurated three-reel releases, in the role of Cigarette in Under Two Flags). For at least part of 1913 and 1914 Louise Vale was with Thanhouser, probably on an intermittent basis. In Thanhouser publicity she was referred to as "Miss Vale."

Her films included The Debt (Rex-Universal, 1912), Until Death Do Us Part (Pilot,1913), The Code of the U.S.A. (Pilot, 1913), Daybreak (Reliance, 1914), Under Two Flags (Biograph, 1915), The Iron Master (Biograph, 1914; directed by Travers Vale), Jane Eyre (Biograph, 1915; directed by Travers Vale), and numerous other Biograph and other films through 1918. The October 1916 edition of The Motion Picture News Studio Directory noted that she was 5'11" tall and weighed 126 pounds. She was married to stage and screen personality Travers Vale (1873-1927). Louise Vale died in Madison, Wisconsin on October 28, 1918, a victim of the Spanish flu epidemic.
