Thanhouser Career Synopsis: Richard H. Cummings was an actor with Thanhouser circa 1912.

Biographical Notes: Richard Henry Cummings was born in New Haven, Connecticut on August 20, 1858. For many years he was on stage in vaudeville, minstrelsy, and legitimate performances. His obituary in Variety, December 28, 1938, stated that he had his beginning in films with the Thanhouser Company in 1912. In 1913 he was Majestic, and by 1914 he was in Hollywood with D.W. Griffith, for whom he had a role in the epic film, The Birth of a Nation. In later years, until his retirement in the 1930s, he had minor roles in numerous films. Richard Henry Cummings died in Los Angeles, California on December 25, 1938.
