Thanhouser Career Synopsis: Eddie Plank, a pitcher for the Philadelphia Athletics baseball team, appeared in the Thanhouser-Princess film, The Final Game, which depicted highlights from the last game of the 1913 World Series, played in New York City on October 11, 1913.
Biographical Notes: Edward Stewart ("Eddie") Plank was born on August 31, 1875 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. He spent 17 years as a player in major league professional baseball and was with the Philadelphia Athletics from 1901 to 1914. He participated in four World Series contests, 1095, 1911, 1913, and 1914, all with the Athletics. In 1946 he was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Standing just over 5'11" tall, he weighed 175 pounds. In the final game of the 1913 World Series, filmed by Thanhouser, he pitched all nine innings and allowed two hits and one run. Plank died on February 24, 1926 in the town of his birth.
