Thanhouser Career Synopsis: Jere Austin appeared in Thanhouser films released in 1916.

Biographical Notes: Jere Austin was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1876 and received his advanced education at the University of Minnesota and the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Troy, New York). In 1898 he served in the Spanish-American War. Following a stage career, he was seen in numerous productions, including The Squaw Man. His motion picture activities included, by 1918, work with Vitagraph, Selig, Thanhouser and Kalem. He appeared in Thanhouser films in 1916.

A sketch in the December 28, 1918 issue of The New York Dramatic Mirror noted that he was unmarried, was 6'1" tall, weighed 200 pounds, and had dark hair, hazel eyes, and a medium complexion. Among his various films were The Conquest of Quebec, The Arkansas Traveler, The School for Scandal, All Human, Hidden Fires, A Perfect Lady, Primrose, Resurrection, and Fedora. In 1918 he was in the Paramount production of Uncle Tom's Cabin. He remained in films through the 1920s. Jere Austin died of cancer on November 12, 1927 in Hollywood, California.
