Thanhouser Career Synopsis: Carter B. Harkness was an actor with Thanhouser circa 1911-1912.

Biographical Notes: Carter B. Harkness was born in 1888. His stage career included three years in stock, after which he entered films, working with Biograph, Thanhouser, Edison (The Battle of Tapoli), Fox (Gold and the Woman, March 1916; Her People), and Rador (The Spirit of 1917). He was among the Thanhouser employees in attendance at the First Annual Entertainment and Dance held at Germania Hall, New Rochelle, on April 15, 1912. In 1911 and 1912 his residence was 212 Main Street, New Rochelle. A 1918 directory noted that he was 5'11" tall and had a medium complexion. At the time he lived at 727 Eighth Avenue, New York City.
