Thanhouser Career Synopsis: John ("Babe") Wallace appeared in Thanhouser films in 1913 and 1914.
Biographical Notes: "Babe" Wallace, as John Wallace was known, a 350-pound man, was seen on the street by a Thanhouser director and was hired on the spot for the title role in Why Babe Left Home, released on May 18, 1913. He subsequently appeared in The Official Goat Protector and Percy's First Holiday. The New Rochelle, April 26, 1913, carried this notice: "'Jack' Wallace, who has lately become an actor for the movies, is booked as the legitimate successor of John Bunny." Bunny, the well-known Vitagraph comedian and vaudeville star, was likewise of portly dimensions.
Note: John Wallace, a Thanhouser studio employee circa 1912, was a different person.
