Thanhouser Career Synopsis: Frank Baker, a player with the Philadelphia Athletics baseball team, appeared in the Princess film, The Final Game, which depicted highlights from the last game of the 1913 World Series, played in New York City on October 11, 1913.
Biographical Notes: John Franklin Baker, nicknamed "Home Run Baker" in baseball, was born on March 13, 1886 in Trappe, Maryland. He spent 13 years as a player in major league professional baseball, including seven years with the Philadelphia Athletics, 1908-1914. He participated in six World Series contests, 1910, 1911, 1913, 1914, 1921, and 1922, and was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame, in Cooperstown, New York, in 1955. Standing 5'11" tall, he weighed 173 pounds. In the final game of the 1913 World Series, filmed by Thanhouser, he played third base, was at bat three times, and had two hits. Baker died on June 28, 1963 in the town of his birth.
