Volume II: Filmography
The Thanhouser Film Corporation produced two serials. The first, The Million Dollar Mystery, was issued in 23 episodes of two reels each and was distributed through the Syndicate Film Corporation. The serial created nationwide interest and was very profitable.
The second serial, Zudora, issued in 20 episodes of two reels each, was released through the Thanhouser Syndicate Corporation. Zudora was poorly received at the box office, and the title was subsequently changed to The Twenty Million Dollar Mystery in an effort to ride the coattails of the first serial. However, by all accounts Zudora was a money-losing proposition from start to finish. In later years the serials were re-edited into shorter form and re-released by the Arrow Film Corporation through various states rights distributors.
Toward the end of 1914 it was announced that a third Thanhouser serial would be made during the next year, with the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco serving as a setting. However, the plans never materialized.
