Chapter 11: Epilogue Thanhouser Film Reissues

All of the Thanhouser Film Corporation's film inventory passed to the Arrow Film Corporation. On June 3, 1918 Arrow released on a states rights basis a feature film, The Million Dollar Mystery, edited by Lloyd F. Lonergan from the original 46-reel serial of the same name issued in 1914 and 1915. Note Featured in advertising were James Cruze, Florence LaBadie, Sidney Bracy, Frank Farrington, and Irving Cummings, although Cummings had not been featured in advertising for the serial in 1914. Some trade notices stated that the reissued serial was distributed by the Randolph Film Corporation, which may have controlled certain areas. Note

On October 21, 1918 Arrow reissued on a states rights basis Inspiration, the November 1915 picture featuring Audrey Munson in nude poses, with the title now changed to The Perfect Model. An effort was made to mislead the public and to imply this was a new film, not a reissue. However, per advertising and publicity suggestions given in the October 26th issue of The Moving Picture World, this ruse was to be used only in towns where theatregoers didn't know better; that is, in locations in which Inspiration had not been shown earlier.

From March through May 1919 an edited version of the 20-episode Zudora, otherwise known as The Twenty Million Dollar Mystery, was distributed by Arrow through an outfit known as the Big Productions Film Corporation. The serial was released on a states rights basis in 10 episodes and was titled The Demon's Shadow. Editing was done by Jesse J. Goldburg, who was associated with the Frohman Amusement Corporation. Featured in advertising were James Cruze and Marguerite Snow.
